OK, so I am a self confessed album cover fan, you know one of those insane guys who buys music for their covers , spends countless hours in old antique shops, record stores, etc (to the endless frustration of my wife) looking at the art and design credits.

I think I own every book that ever came out on this subject, as I never got as swept away by the famous classic artists and painters as I was by my personal childhood album art heroes; Roger Dean, Rodney Mathews, Hipgnosis (Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell) Russel Mills, Derek Riggs, Hugh Syme, Peter Saville, Mick Rock, Kelley & Mouse studios, John Pasche, Mick Haggerty, Peter Loyd, The Hildenbradts , Brian Griffin, George Hardie, and Bob Carlos Clarke. Man I can go on forever and bore you to tears.

LED ZEPPELIN, QUEEN, YES, PINK FLOYD, BLACK SABBATH, RUSH, GENESIS, DEEP PURPLE, JUDAS PRIEST, ELP, IRON MAIDEN, and U2 their music and their album cover images worked in a perfect visual symmetry. Keeping this in mind and in heart I began writing and designing this page with my brother George as part of the Classic Rock Revisted site.

I want everyone to understand that this is not a contest , nor is it intended to offend or be “critically” correct. It is totally my personal opinion, the stories and history comes from books, articles and conversations I have had in my travels.
